I love sewing. I love buying fabric. I love buying patterns. I love researching (okay, oogling) patterns online and dreaming about turning them into clothes for myself. Or my LO. Well, mostly for me. Truth be told, I do not like sewing kid’s clothes.

My sewing skills are as amazing as they are thanks in part to my mom’s patience with me and also to my friends with whom I sew and observe. I have read lots of content on the sewing and pattern adjusting processes on other blogs and watched videos to better my knowledge. And I would love to be able to take a dressmaking course. Maybe some day that will be a reality.

I sew all my own dresses, have tackled a few sweaters and vests, and I do sew my own slips. Also I did some sewing before LO was born–blankets, burp rags, and such. I have never tried sewing leggings for myself, a jacket, or underwear. There are legging patterns in my stash and I COULD have a custom pair…but…it’s just easiest to buy…

My sewing career started at a young age: I sewed my first day of school dress for Grade 8 and I have mostly done my own since then. Of course, mom would help with trickier patterns or fabrics or when I was cramped for time. I have sewed dresses for friends along the way. Custom sewing for someone else is always a bit trickier than sewing for yourself. Not as fun.

Along with all this sewing comes the part of designing and fitting…that is SO MUCH FUN!!! And the keeping up with the shape you are…NOT SO MUCH FUN!!!
